Animal disease traceability plan pointed in the right direction That was the theme of the Joint Strategy Forum on Animal Disease Traceability sponsored by the National Institute for Animal Agriculture and the United States Animal Health Association in Denver earlier this week. NCBA QUESTIONS R-CALF AFFILIATION WITH EXTREMIST ANIMAL RIGHTS GROUPS Representatives of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) question the affiliation of R-CALF with the animal rights and environmental activist group Food and Water Watch. According to separate news releases issued by the two groups, R-CALF and Food and Water Watch are joining forces on the campaign to support USDA’s Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyard Administration’s (GIPSA) proposed rule on livestock marketing. NCBA President Steve Foglesong said well-funded activist groups, like Food and Water Watch, are working to obstruct the success of U.S. agriculture and its efforts to feed a growing global population. He said Food and Water Watch, a lobbyist group full of "career activists," has a longstanding history of lobbying for stringent agricultural regulations that are devoid of science |

Proposed GIPSA Changes Force The Cattle Industry To Go To War With Itself. Again Most of the participants in July’s Battle of Denver, which was fought over the possible misuse of millions of checkoff dollars, moved up the road to Friday's USDA-DOJ listening session in Fort Collins and they’re fighting anew over some serious money this time. We’re not content to let anti-ag groups kill us off one-by-one when we can do it much more efficiently ourselves. |
